Most Common Question: Why are credit cards charged by the JMU Alumni Association and checks made out to Jason Sfaelos, as opposed to the Blass Memorial Fund?
Answer: The scholarship resides in the trust of the James Madison University Foundation, a 501(c)(3). Currently our group is not incorporated as a 501(c)(3), so even though all the proceeds go to the JMU Foundation, we are currently acting as a committee on its behalf. It is our goal to eventually incorporate as our own 501(c)(3).
